Love alone is the fittest thing to survive and not hatred. Love and ask nothing; love and look for nothing further. Love all creatures. Do not be jealous of anyone. Look not to the faults of others. Kindness and love can buy you the whole world; lectures and books and philosophy all stand lower than these. Love and do good to everybody, but do not become a slave.
All hatred is killing the “Self by the self,” therefore love is the law of life. To rise to this is to be perfect. But the more perfect we are, less “work” can we do. The Sattvikas see and know that all is mere child’s play and do not trouble themselves about anything. (An echo of the idea found in the Gita 3.17.)
